There are ways for Christian parents to teach children to worship the Lord and make Him an important part of their week. We should give God the thanks and praise He is worthy of, and help our children learn how to live a life of worship.
We can invite God to be a part of our everyday life and worship Him in Spirit and truth in our everyday lives. By acknowledging that worship can be whatever we do in our day that gives God praise. It is more than singing praise or listening to worship music, those are beautiful ways to worship, but there are several other ways as well. Through worship, we can give God the praise, adoration, and acknowledgment He is due and teach our children the amazing gift of worship.

My children love listening to worship music, especially the sing-a-long kid’s songs, or the ones they hear sung at church. So when one of the familiar songs plays, they stop and listen and I catch them smiling and singing along. It’s so beautiful to sing praises to God and speak words that bring life and hope. It touches my heart when I see them trying to sing every word or hum along with a huge smile on their face. We can teach children to live a life of worship if we do whatever we are doing for the Lord. Colossians 3:23 NIV says “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” Throughout daily life, we can have a heart of worship and give God the credit and praise He is worthy of.
There are several ways to teach children to worship the Lord and below are some impactful ways to help them learn the beauty of worship in their daily lives.
How Can You Teach Your Children To Worship The Lord In Their Daily Life?
1) In Everything We Do, Do It As Unto the Lord In Worship
Teach children to worship the Lord by showing them everything they do can be for God’s glory. Colossians 3:23 (NIV) says “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” This can be a form of worship that invites God to be present in all things. Teaching children to commit everything they do to God, for His glory and acknowledging His worthiness. As Christian mothers, we can show our children that they can live their lives to please God and not worry about man’s approval. Our heart’s desire should be to honor the Lord, no matter how big or small the task we commit to Him. Reminding them that God sees everything, and we can commit whatever we do to the Lord and ask God to receive all the glory from it. We will fall short many times, but surrendering to Him and giving Him our all is a sincere heartfelt way to worship.
This Kids Study Bible is a great way to encourage them to spend time with the Lord and study God’s Word. Having their own Bible makes it exciting and special and can help them dive deeper into biblical truths.
2) Teach Your Children To Worship The Lord By Having a Heart of Praise and Thanksgiving
Teach children to worship the Lord by teaching them to have a heart of praise and thanksgiving. The Lord is worthy of our praise and our thanksgiving as He created us and all we have is a gift from Him. As Christian mothers, we can teach our children the beauty of living a life of praise and thanksgiving to the Lord as worship. Daily acknowledging that our blessings come from Him, and helping our children to see that they can live with a thankful heart, crediting God for everything. Even in the face of difficulties, we can still acknowledge that God is good even in challenges. He is still God and He is always good.
3) Acknowledge God Throughout Your Day As Worship
Teach children to worship the Lord by helping them learn to acknowledge God throughout their day. God cares about every detail of our life, He wants us to walk with Him and have a deep relationship with Him. There is nothing we face in this life that God doesn’t desire to be a part of, He wants all of us. And He should be our all in all, and the foundation of our lives. We can teach our children to invite God to be present in their day, although we can’t see Him, He is ever-present. We can assure our children that they don’t walk in life alone, they can trust and acknowledge God as the One who gives us life.
4) Have A Prayerful Life As Worship To The Lord
As Christian mothers, we have the privilege of teaching our children the power of prayer. The ability to communicate with God, to turn to Him in any situation, at any time. James 5:16 (NIV) says “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” Our children can learn the gift of prayer, and how living a prayerful life is a way to walk victoriously in the Christian life. Prayer is a form of worship to God and we can instill this truth in our children. To lead them in a personal relationship with the Lord, so that they may walk with Him all their life.
5) Living A Life of Giving As Worship To The Lord
We can teach our children to live a life of worship through giving in several ways. We can give financially, give with our time, or give by offering our skills or talents to help others. If our heart desires to praise the Lord, it is a way of worship. We can teach our children how a life of giving is a blessing to those giving and those receiving. How the Lord wants us to be active in our faith and if we see someone in need of anything, God can use us to bless them if we are willing. God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7 NIV). Though we live In a world where the focus of more on gaining, we can fill our children’s hearts with God’s truth about the blessing and joy of giving.
6) Make songs of Praise Unto the Lord As Worship
We can worship the Lord through songs of praise, making melodies in our hearts to Him. We can teach our children the beauty of singing praises to God with a pure heart. Because God hears our songs of praise we can make singing to Him a part of our daily life of worship. Singing worship to the Lord has a way of dissolving fear and worry, and helps us focus purely on Him. The Psalms are filled with verses about singing praises to the Lord, and we can teach our children to live a life praising the Lord through song.
7) Worship With Writing or Drawing As Worship To The Lord
Another way of worship we can teach our children is worshipping in writing or drawing. By using a prayer journal or a painted canvas to write or draw praise to God. A prayer journal can have prayer requests, praise reports, thanksgiving, or even just talk to God in writing. God made us creative beings and we can use that creativity to praise Him. You can encourage your child’s creativity and help them see how they can use it as a way to worship the Lord. Even a simple child-like picture can praise the Lord, it’s all a matter of the heart.
8) Worship The Lord in The Secret Place
We can live a life of worship by spending time with the Lord in a secret quiet place. Because resting in His presence and just giving Him our time can refresh our souls. So teaching our children that we don’t always have to be speaking to worship God, we can praise Him from our hearts in pure quietness. So we can ‘just be’ before the Lord without distractions. Psalm 46:10 NIV says “Be still, and know that I am God.” We can be quiet in the Lord’s presence and meditate on His Word in Worship to Him.
