As Christian parents, we want to teach our children why reading the Bible is important and instill a desire to read it daily. Because God’s Word brings us hope and changes us from within, it encourages and helps us live a righteous life that pleases the Lord. As Christians, we should be set apart from the world and live in alignment with God’s truth.
We want our children to shine in this dark world, and their spiritual growth will come from planting God’s Word in their hearts. God is doing good work in their hearts, and we can remind them why we should faithfully read the Bible as part of living the Christian life by faith.
My husband and I decided to gift our 3 children their Bibles starting at a young age. Because they are never too young to start understanding the importance of God’s Word in their lives and having their very own Bible got them excited about it. We want them to look back one day and see that their parents made God’s Word a priority in their lives.
Having their own Bible makes them excited and we want to plant a passion for God’s Word in their hearts. Even though not all of them can read yet, they are starting to understand how the Bible is an important part of learning more about God. They get excited to bring their Bibles to church each week and they are starting to realize that it’s an extra special book.
