Ways Of Finding Your Identity In Christ As A Mother

How can you find your identity in Christ as a mother? In which ways does knowing the Lord help define who you are, and who you can confidently be? When you are in Christ, you are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV), and you can live knowing who you are in Christ and who He says you are!

As a Christian mother, it can be easy to forget the newness of life God gives you, when you’re living the never-ending schedules and routines of motherhood, you can easily dismiss all the beautiful things God blesses you with as His child. All the other voices around you can try to define you, but the ultimate voice that triumphs over them all is the Lord’s. When you walk in the freedom, hope, peace, and identity Christ gives you once you’ve placed your trust fully in Him, there comes an assurance within your heart that helps you know exactly who you are in Him.

Dear Christian mothers, Christ makes you new! You can confidently live in the freedom and peace that He gives you. You can know that you are valuable and precious in His sight. The things of your past no longer define you, when you are in Christ, you are made new! You can find your true identity in Him, and toss aside the world’s standards of who you should be. 1) You Are A Child Of God, He Is Your Father

John 1:12 NIV says “Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”

When you place your trust in the Lord and surrender everything to Him, you are a child of God! He is your heavenly Father and you can fully know that He is trustworthy and His love is unfailing. You can walk with the identity as a child of the King because that is who you are in Him.

2) You Were Created In God’s Image

Genesis 1:27 NIV says “So God created mankind in His image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.”

God created you in His image, you are personally chosen by Him and He made every detail of who you are. You can live your life knowing whose hands you were created by and you can know He made you with purpose.

3) In Christ You Are A New Creation

2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here!”

You are a new creation in Christ, no matter what your past holds and what you’ve done when you surrender your life to Christ, He makes you new! 4) You Are Set Free And No Longer Ruled By Sin

In Christ, you are set free, sin no longer has a hold on you. You are no longer a slave to sin, but to righteousness and living to please the Lord. So walk confidently in this identity you have in Christ, knowing that the Lord is beside you and will help you overcome whatever you face, He is your strength.

5) You Can Face Anything, The Lord Is Your Strength

Philippians 4:13 NIV says “I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”

You can find your strength in the Lord, there is nothing you can’t face with Him by your side. He gives you the courage and strength to live a victorious life and to overcome the obstacles you face. Turn to Him for strength when you feel weak, He is the One who sustains you.

6) You Are Fearfully And Wonderfully Made By God

Psalm 139:13-16 NIV says “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made, I know that full well.”

You are fearfully and wonderfully made by God, your life is precious in His sight and you have immense value and purpose. Your true identity is found in who God made you to be and in who God says you are.

7) Through Faith In Christ, You Have Been Justified

Romans 5:1 NIV says “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

You can rest assured that when you place your trust in Christ, you are justified. You can live your life knowing you are at peace with God through Jesus Christ, the One who justifies you.

8) You Are Chosen By God

John 15:16 NIV says “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”

You are chosen by God, He has plans for your life, and He claims you as His. Live as a child of God and walk in the freedom that comes from truly knowing that you are chosen and loved.

9) You Are Shielded By God’s Power

1 Peter 1:5 NIV says “Who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.”

You are shielded by God’s power, He is your protection and salvation. Trust in Him, lean on Him, and live your life knowing He is your shield and Protector.

10) You Are A Heir Of God And Co-heirs With Christ

Romans 8:17 NIV says “Now if we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings so that we may also share in His glory.”

As a child of God, you are also an heir of His, and for the good things to come, He has a glorious future for you. Keep trusting in Him and know that He gives you hope and a glorious eternal future.

11) You Are Saved By God When You Call On His Name

Romans 10:13 NIV says “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

You can live with the assurance that you are saved through faith in Christ Jesus, that God hears you when you call on His name and He is your salvation.

12) You Can Have Complete Joy In The Lord

John 15:11 NIV says “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”

You can live your life with abundant joy, complete in Christ. A joy this world can’t offer, a joy that comes only from knowing the Lord and living your life aligned with His truth.

13) You Were Made With Purpose, Meaning, Value, And Love

Psalm 139:15-16 NIV says “My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

You were made with purpose, meaning, value, and love. God intentionally made you the way you are, and He chose you. Your purpose and identity are rooted in Christ, and you can live your life according to who God says you are. He knew you from the very beginning, He predestined all your days and has you where He wanted you to be in such a time as this.

14) You Are Righteous In God’s Sight Through Your Faith In Christ

Romans 3:22 NIV says “This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.”

Through your faith in Christ, God sees you as righteous in His sight. The righteousness of Christ shines on you and God sees you as a new creation in Him. He no longer sees the sins you once held, in Christ, you have been washed as white as snow (Isaiah 1:18 NIV).

15) Your Body Is A Temple, The Holy Spirit Dwells In You

1 Corinthians 6:19 NIV says “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.”

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, you belong to God and He has given you the Holy Spirit as a deposit, a guarantee of the hope to come (2 Corinthians 1:22 NIV).

16) You Are Protected And Guarded By God

2 Thessalonians 3:3 NIV says “But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.”

The Lord is faithful, He will strengthen you and He is the One who protects you from the evil one. Trust fully in Him, let Him be your refuge, your shield, and your safe place, He is ever-present in your time of need.

17) You Were Created For Good Works, God Has A Plan For Your Life

Ephesians 2:10 NIV says “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

God created you with a purpose, He has good work for you to do, and He will equip you to do what He’s called you to. Find your identity in Him, and follow His truth, and He will lead you into what He has for your life.

18) You Are Worth So Much To God, Even Your Hairs Are Numbered

Luke 12:7 NIV says “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid, you are worth more than many sparrows.”

Your worth is great in God’s eyes, He has even numbered the exact amount of hairs on your head. You are precious to Him, find your identity in the One who knows you the best and who loves you the most.

19) God Knows You Better Than Anyone, And He Loves You

Psalms 139:1-4 NIV says “You have searched me, Lord, and You know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.

God knows you better than anyone, He knows your thoughts and He searches the depths of your heart. He is familiar with all your ways, and He cares about every detail of your life. You can fully trust Him, He knows you better than anyone, and He watches over you.

20) You Belong To God And He Knows You And Sees You As His

2 Timothy 2:19 NIV says “God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are His.”

You belong to God, you are His. God knows those who belong to Him and He is their refuge and strength. Lean fully on Him, trust Him, align your life with His truth, and be assured that you belong to the Maker of all things, He is sovereign and in control.

You can find your identity in Christ as a mother by reading God’s Word and what it says about you as a believer.
