Beautiful Goals For A Biblical Mother For Raising Children

It’s good to have goals that you can strive towards as a biblical mother because setting goals keeps you on track and helps you be intentional in your parenting journey. As Christians, we want to raise our children to be set apart from the world and to shine brightly for Christ. To train them up in the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6 NIV), and lead them on the path of righteousness and holiness in this dark and evil world.

As parents, your voice is the authority in your child’s life, your words hold a deeper meaning than anyone else’s to them. Be confident that God has equipped you to raise your children in the truth, and He has entrusted them to you to lead them on the right path.

As Christian parents, we should be intentional in how we raise our children and help them live a life that aligns with God’s Word. And children are never too young to start hearing the gospel message and learning to apply it to their lives. What we instill in them as they grow will help shape who they become as they get older.

If you are a biblical mother, and you desire to set goals so you can be intentional in raising your children in God’s truth, then below are several goals to strive for in your parenting journey.

What Goals Are There For A Biblical Mother To Set For Raising Her Children In God’s Truth?

1) Point Your Children To Jesus

John 14:6 NIV says Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

As Christian mothers, we should desire to point our children to Jesus and help direct their lives according to His ways. Because there is no greater gift you can give your children than the hope that comes from knowing Christ.

2) Help Your Children Learn To Live A Life Of Righteousness

1 John 2:29 NIV says “If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him.”

In this self-focused world, it’s easy to think life is all about happiness, doing what we enjoy, and finding success. But the Bible tells us otherwise, God wants us to live a life of righteousness and holiness in all we do, to grow in our faith, and to become more like Christ. This life was never meant to be lived only for ourselves, and teaching children how to strive to live righteously and to desire to please God is a beautiful blessing you can give them.

3) Instill In Your Children A Passion For God’s Word

2 Timothy 2:15 NIV says “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”

We have an enemy who wants our Bibles to get dusty and to just sit on a shelf forever. Because there is power in God’s Word and when we read it, it brings us hope and fills our hearts with God’s truth. As Christian mothers, we can instill in our children a hunger for God’s Word, and a desire to make it a regular part of their week.

4) Help Your Children Learn That They Can Live A Life Of Worship To The Lord

Psalm 95:6 NIV says “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”

God is worthy of our worship and it should be a normal part of our life. Because as believers everything we do can be as worship unto God. So teaching children the beauty of living a life of worship is a priceless gift you can pass on to them.

5) Teach Your Children To Fear The Lord And Acknowledge Him As The Sovereign One

Proverbs 9:10 NIV says “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”

As Christian mothers, we can teach our children how to have a righteous fear of the Lord. How to live a life in awe of Him and give Him the acknowledgment He is worthy of.

2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old is gone, the new is here!”

As believers, we walk free of condemnation, shame, and guilt. Because in Christ we are a new creation and we can walk in the freedom Christ has given us and in a newness of life. As mothers, we can instill this hope in our children’s hearts and teach them who they are in Christ. Teaching them to ignore the outside voices trying to define them, and to focus on who God says they are.

7) Teach Your Children To Live A Prayerful Life

Philippians 4:6 NIV says “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Because God cares about every aspect of our lives, and He is always present and available to go before in prayer. We can teach our children the importance of living a prayerful life and turning to the Lord in all situations, prayer is powerful and effective (James 5:16 NIV).

As Christian mothers, we can have a goal to teach our children the consequences of sin, and how our choices have positive or negative outcomes. How God made a way for us to be victorious over sin and live our lives making choices that please God.

10) Instill In Your Children The Importance Of Walking In Love Towards Others

Colossians 3:14 NIV says “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

We can teach our children the importance of living a life of love towards others, and how anyone who follows Jesus must love their neighbors.

11) Teach Your Children The Value In Overcoming Trials, They Strengthen Your Faith

James 1:12 NIV says “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”

We can teach our children how trials are not always bad, that God helps us grow in our faith through challenges, and He sometimes tests our faith by allowing hardships in our lives. But we should always stand firm on His promises and know that He is faithful to help us through anything we face.

12) Instill A Servant’s Heart In Your Children

Hebrews 13:16 NIV says “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

We can have a goal to teach our children how to live a life serving others because this life is not about ourselves, but about relationships with others. How God made us to lean on each other and help each other.

13) Teach Your Children The Value In Living A Life Of Contentment, Being Thankful For All They Have

Hebrews 13:5 NIV says “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

A beautiful thing to teach children is how to live a life of contentment. How to be grateful for the blessings they have and not get caught up in constantly desiring more, and never being fully satisfied. Even though temptation is all around in this world, we can instill in our children a peace that helps them live with a content heart.

14) Teach Your Children How To Live A Life That Pleases The Lord And Not Man

2 Corinthians 5:9-11 NIV says “So we make it our goal to please Him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. For we all must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”

It’s important to teach children how to live a life that pleases God because one day all of us will stand before Him. Teaching them the importance of using wisdom in choices and not getting caught up in people-pleasing. The only opinion that truly matters is the Lord’s.

15) Teach Your Children The Blessings That Come From Being Obedient To God

James 1:22 NIV says “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

As Christian mothers, we can teach our children the value of obeying God. God wants our lives to stay aligned with His Word so we can stay on a steady path of hope and truth. And when we obey God, He helps keep us from harm and things that would otherwise take us off track.

16) Instill In Your Children A Desire To Grow Deeper In Faith

Romans 10:17 NIV says “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”

We can teach our children that the way to grow deeper in faith in the Lord is to faithfully read the Bible and make it a part of our lives. Because we will never come to a point where our faith is complete in this life, we constantly need to grow in our faith and be fed God’s truth.

Titus 1:2 NIV says “In the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time.”

Because this life is temporary, and teaching children the reality of eternity is a way to help them not just live for the moment. It helps instill in them a desire to know what’s beyond this life and introduces them to the hope found in Christ Jesus.

There are many goals for a biblical mother to have while raising children according to the Bible in this dark and evil world, to help set them up on the right path that leads to hope in Christ. Because instilling God’s truth in their hearts will be a blessing that they can take into adulthood and it will impact generations to come. We have been given a responsibility by God to show our children the way they should go, and setting goals to raise children in truth is a good way to be intentional in instilling the hope of Christ in them.
