I love to pray intentional prayers for my children that cover several areas in their lives.

Prayer is powerful and effective (James 5:16 NIV), and as Christian parents, it is our responsibility to cover our children in prayer, which will have a profound impact on their lives.

We may not see the impact right away, but you can fully trust that God IS working in their hearts and lives, and your prayers are a huge part of that!

Sometimes it’s nice to enter prayer intentionally, praying specific things over your children.

The truth is, our children have an enemy, and he wants to do everything he can to distract them, discourage them, and lead them away from God’s truth.

But thankfully, God gave us the gift of prayer. The ability to come before Him and present our needs, desires, praise, worship, and all the things that seem so small but matter to God. He cares about each area of our lives, and what a blessing it is to come before Him knowing He cares so deeply.

As a mother, my heart is filled with so much peace through prayer. I know that I can’t be in control of every aspect of my children’s lives, but knowing God hears my prayers and the words I pray are not empty, they are powerful and effective.

So cover your children in prayer, present everything and anything before the Lord on your children’s behalf, and trust that your prayers are impactful and powerful.

What Are Some Powerful Intentional Prayers To Pray Over Your Children?

Health

1) Peak Health

Lord, I lift my children before you, and I ask that you keep them in peak health. May they stay healthy and strong, and I ask that you help them overcome whatever sickness, physical limitations, and trials may come their way. May they live their lives the healthiest they can.

2) Quick Recovery

Lord, I pray that my children will have a quick recovery when their bodies are fighting illness and weakness. Strengthen them, lift them, and help them to overcome any physical challenge and every attack on their body. Bless their body with the ability to fight off anything that hinders them physically, mentally, and spiritually.

3) Physical Strength And Mental Clarity

Lord, I pray that you bless my children with physical strength and mental clarity as they face each day. Give them peace of mind and heart that will help them to live each day to their fullest potential. When sickness strikes, strengthen their weak bodies, and when worries clutter their minds, replace them with your divine peace.

Lord, I pray for my children’s bodies to function at full capacity, full potential, and in a complete way as you intended them to. May every aspect of their body run smoothly and properly. Lord, I pray that you bless my children with clear focus as they learn at school. Help their minds to soak in what they are learning so that they may fully understand and grow in knowledge and wisdom. I pray that they will be blessed with sound minds and a good attention span to fully engage in their learning and their educational experience.

2) Kind Loyal Friendships

Lord, please bring kind, loyal friendships into my children’s lives. May they have Christ-loving friends to grow up with and experience great things alongside. May these friends be uplifting, encouraging, and trustworthy, people who my children can lean on during hard times and good times. I pray that my children can be loving friends to others, always shining the light of Christ.

3) Growth And Learning

Lord, I pray for my children to grow and learn and obtain deep knowledge during their young years. May they gain an understanding of what’s important in this life and what to focus on. I pray that they can experience an excitement for learning and growing into the people you made them to be. May they not dwell on earthly things but keep their minds on what is truly important and has an eternal impact.

Lord, please bless my children with friendly, encouraging teachers who will impact their lives in a positive way. Teachers who show the love of Christ and who have a passion for teaching the truth. May their teachers be good role models and provide a place where my children feel safe.

Lord, I pray that my children can have a positive and blessed school experience. May their learning journey be one of the best memories of their childhood and one they look back on with a smile. I pray that you fill their hearts with a passion for learning the truth and applying it to their lives.

Draw us closer to you in all we do, and be the center of our lives, hold us together in your divine care. 1) Divine Protection

Lord, I pray for divine protection over my children. Watch over them as they come and go. Shield them and keep them in your loving care. Protect them from all harm and evil, and keep their feet planted on safe ground and protected from the plans of the enemy.

2) Send Angels To Watch And Guard Them

Lord, I pray that you send your angels to watch over my children, as your word says (Psalm 91:11-12 NIV). As they go out into this dark world, may your angels guard them, watch over them, and keep them on the path of truth.

3) God To Be Their Refuge And Safe Place

Lord, I pray that my children will make you their refuge and safe place, may they seek you, desire to know you deeply, and place their trust in you alone. I pray that you will be the one they turn to in all situations, and that they may find rest in your presence.

Lord, I pray that you keep my children safe from all harm and evil. I pray that you bless them with discernment so they can understand what is good and what is a snare from the enemy. May their lives bring you glory.
