1) God Gave You A Unique Motherhood Journey

You shouldn’t compare your motherhood journey to others because it’s supposed to look different! Because God gave you a unique journey that only you can walk out, shoes that only you can fill. We can learn and be inspired by other mothers, but we should strive to remain focused on the path God placed before us and focus on raising godly children. Because comparison is a trap that keeps your attention on other things than the blessings God gave you. It’s important to stay focused on who God says you are as a mother and how you can glorify Him through this role.

2) Everyone Is Fighting Some Kind Of Battle Even When You Can’t See It

The Bible clarifies that we are in a spiritual battle. Ephesians 6:12 (NIV) says “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” This verse shares that we are fighting a battle, and the enemy of our soul is trying to destroy us. Comparison is a way the enemy tries to take our focus off of the blessings God gave us and tempt us to struggle with contentment in our lives. No one’s life is perfect regardless of how it appears and it’s important to focus on praying and encouraging each other as fellow mothers.

3) Comparison is a Thief Of Our Time And Our Joy

You shouldn’t compare your motherhood journey to others because comparison is a thief of time and joy. When comparison creeps in, slowly you’ll find yourself wishing you had someone else’s life. Time gets wasted and you may dwell on negative thoughts that steal contentment from your life. God has given us all blessings and we don’t want to live not appreciating them. Because blessings from God were intended to be enjoyed with a heart of thankfulness. God wants us to live a life of contentment and keep our eyes on living for Him.

4) Your Children Need You As Their Mother, No One Else Will Do

You shouldn’t compare your motherhood journey to others because God chose YOU to be your children’s mother and no one else can fill that role. God has given you the children He knew would be best under your care and it wasn’t by accident. Because He called you to the high calling of motherhood, so embrace your unique journey and be the best mother you can be. When comparing our lives to others it steals our attention and time, time that we could be pouring into our children. God has equipped you to mother your children and lead them in His truth, walk it out with grace and obedience.

5) Comparison Opens The Door To Jealousy And Envy

You shouldn’t compare your motherhood journey to others because when we dwell on comparison, we are walking a dangerous line that leads to jealousy and envy. And jealousy and envy can make your heart bitter and full of negativity. It’s hard to walk a journey of thankfulness when struggling with bitterness. Eventually, it leads to never feeling content or happy in life. It’s important to focus on the journey God gave you keep your eyes on Christ and faithfully be the mother He made you to be. Don’t take your eyes off your calling, to raise your children for the Lord.

6) We Need To Keep Our Minds On What Matters

When thinking about what matters in life, things like family, relationships, and good health, come to mind. By training ourselves to think about what’s important, we can remain focused on God’s truth. 2 Corinthians 5:10 (NIV) says “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” This verse tells us that this time given on earth is a time we should be using wisely, it matters in eternity. God has given us all we need in His Word to overcome the temptation of comparison, and we can walk victoriously!

7) We Need To Strive To Walk Our Motherhood Journey According To God’s Word

Believers in Christ are called to a higher standard of living because we represent Christ in all we do. And we are to be set apart from the world and strive to live a life of righteousness. God’s Word has given us all we need to be equipped to be biblical mothers who successfully follow the Lord’s ways and lead our children in them. When comparison creeps into our hearts and minds, we lose focus of that calling. The enemy wants us to sulk in comparing our lives to others and lose focus on our mission. Instead let’s be mothers who encourage, uplift, and rejoice with each other. Motherhood has challenges and our ultimate goal is raising kingdom-minded children.
